Art :: Gallery Four: Communities, Then and NowLink to Gallery FourThe theme of community within environment began in 1970 and continues into the present. The community itself consists typically of one continuously curving “line” drawing in which I accent emerging heads and bodies. Again, this means people interacting – or as I now call it, communities within environments. In this case, the environments are simply the backgrounds. And these were greatly enhanced once I introduced computer effects. Here I go micro, using the tools of select, to highlight a rectangular area, and smudge, to blend, blur, and shape the colors within the rectangle. The effects are the usual negative and water color, with a little stained glass and texturizer thrown in.
